Jeffrey D. Wager, MD, MBA

Jeff is Chairman of Apeiron Partners and founded the firm in 1995. Jeff has raised over $250 million for its clients in a variety of strategic alliances, financings and, particularly corporate spin-outs, having designed four to date, including Targacept from RJR, Ketocytonyx from BTG, QED Solutions from Booz Allen's pharma consulting practice, and KBI BIoPharma from KBI.
Prior to starting Apeiron Partners, Jeff was with Medical Science Partners (MSP), a Harvard-affiliated venture capital fund, and was intimately involved in the management of a portfolio of over 30 life science companies spanning start-ups through publicly-held companies, including decode, ICAgen, Diatide, Zycos and others.
Prior to MSP, Jeff was Executive Director of Business Development for the life sciences group of a trading company affiliate of the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, where he was responsible for a number of strategic alliances between U.S. and Japanese firms.
Jeff received his M.D. from Rush Medical College in Chicago and his MBA from the University of Chicago.

Joseph R. Wager, MBA

Joseph Wager is a Managing Director of Apeiron Partners. Mr. Wager is concerned with strategic, operational and tactical issues in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device areas. He is particularly focused upon issues of strategy, business development, finance, sales & marketing, and R&D. Prior to his position at Apeiron Partners, Mr. Wager worked as an independent management consultant to both industry and government, having been an advisor on healthcare issues to the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, and a myriad of industry clients. It is during this timeframe he co-founded Pferde Farm LLC and The Magic Saddle, a 501(c)3 providing services to children with special needs. Mr. Wager also is the former vice president of research and business development for Prescription Solutions, a Pacificare/United Healthcare Company. Lastly, Mr. Wager has held strategic consulting positions spanning nearly 20 years in Medicus/Publicis, IBM/The Wilkerson Group, CSC Healthcare, EDS/A.T. Kearney, and MDS. Overall Mr. Wager has over 25 years experience in the healthcare field. His management experience has spanned clinical, academic, research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device environments. Throughout his career, Mr. Wager has been involved in business management issues in areas of strategy, research and development, operations, corporate finance, marketing and sales. He has worked on both a domestic and international level--having lived on two continents and worked extensively in all three major geographies of interest to the life sciences industry. Mr. Wager has extensive experience in negotiating, structuring, and securing appropriate strategic alliances, elucidating business development issues and developing corporate strategies to realize lasting value on behalf of clients.
Mr. Wager holds a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, a M.S. in Neurobiology from the University of Illinois, and a B.S. in Hospital Administration from Southern Illinois University. In addition, Mr. Wager has completed numerous post-graduate courses in diverse areas, including consulting frameworks and clinical drug development. |

Rick is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for Apeiron Partners. Rick has a diverse business, accounting and financial management background, having been a Manager with Ernst & Young's Entrepreneurial Services Group handling various venture capital clients, having been the Chief Financial Officer for Medical Science Partners, a Harvard-affiliated life science venture capital fund.
Rick oversees regulatory compliance and overall financial management of the firm. Rick's time is shared with two venture capital groups where he functions as their Chief Financial Officer.
Richard holds a BS in Business Administration from American International College and is a Certified Public Accountant, and has NASD registered broker-dealer, Series 7, 24, 28 & 63.

Michael Greenberg, MBA

Michael has worked with biotechnology, venture capital, and consulting companies in the U.S., Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region for the past 17 years.
Specifically, his work focuses on licensing transactions, fund-raising preparation, and investment due diligence. Michael’s specialty is cross-national business development performing work to date for companies in Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, and Israel.
Since September 2002, Michael has maintained an office at MPM Capital in Boston where he has independently assisted more than one dozen of their portfolio companies with licensing negotiations, fund-raising preparation, and acting, Vice President, Business Development.
The management of TVM and Oxford Bioscience venture capital organizations also refer Michael to assist their companies in cross-national transactions.
Since 2005, he has represented the US licensing interests of the Japanese, clinical-stage, infectious disease company, aRigen.
Michael completed the initial licensing transaction for Cerimon Pharmaceuticals of 2 products from Japan which led to a $65 million fundraising and he completed one of the first drug-device combination transactions which was between a top three interventional cardiology company and an Israeli start-up company.
During his career, Michael has worked directly for MPM Capital, PA Consulting Group (US, UK, Australia), Decision Resources, and Novartis.
Michael has homes in Boston and Tokyo and has lived in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Japan. Mr. Greenberg holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA from Tufts University.

Fred Meyer, Ph.D., CFA

Fred is a Principal at Apeiron Partners and has 10 years experience combining expertise in both finance and biology including the last 5 years at Apeiron. Through in-depth analyses and thorough evaluation of options, Fred assists clients by identifying and presenting an attractive value proposition to potential investors and partners.
He was previously a biotechnology equity research and business development analyst at Needham & Company and at Schooner Capital.
Fred holds a PhD from Ohio State University in Molecular Genetics for research into the control of gene expression; a BSc in Genetics and Development from the University of Illinois; the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, and has passed Series 7, 24 & 63 NASD broker deal exams.
